The geometric form of a circle is cut out repeatedly from four copies of 'Finnegans Wake' by James Joyce. The notion of cyclicality referenced in the 1939 book is here transferred into a geometric form that runs through the books. The pages are removed from their correct order and stacked simply on a raw wooden plinth. The concept of the cycle expressed in this book is translated into the physical form of the circle and then the column. The pages become a monument to fractured materials and ideas. |
