Originally trained in animation and photography, MJ studied fine art at IADT Dún Laoghaire and the University of the Arts, London. His video installations, sculptures and photographic projects have been exhibited internationally at galleries and institutions including (selection): Dhaka Art Summit, Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna; Centre Pompidou, Metz; Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai; Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway; Museum Bochum. His films have been screened internationally at (selection): DOC NYC, Galway Film Fleadh, Labocine, Dublin International Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival; Kiasma Museum, Helsinki; TULCA Festival of Visual Arts, Ireland; Kunstverein Bremerhaven. MJ recently received the Stiftung Kunstfonds Project Award (DE) and the Screen Wicklow Short Film Award (IE).
